2nd Skin is made from 60% inherently flame resistant modified acrylic fiber, commonly known as "modacrylic", which has the ability to wick moisture away from the body. Modacrylic blended with Benchmark FR cotton yields a fabric that can help regulate body temperature while offering high thermal performance. The combination of modacrylic and Benchmark FR serves a second purpose; while 60% of the fabric can wick moisture, 38% of the material will distribute body moisture evenly, creating a greater area for evaporation. Our unique blend also offers more comfort than a pure modacrylic fabric, which can fell clingy and synthetic next to the skin. The remaining 2% of the 2nd skin blend is a hybrid conductive fiber, or antistatic fiber. These antistatic fibers conduct and dissipate the small charges that can build with friction, especially in dry conditions.
