Remove heavy contamination, scaly rust, layered paint and other substances that may interfere with the arc. Galva-Tech FC is designed to weld through most foreign contaminants, but precleaning always helps. When working on sheet metal, tack welding the joint all along the seam helps to reduce distortion; however, it usually cannot be eliminated. Using X-Ergon Kul-Therm™ on both sides of the weld and using the skip weld technique will also help to reduce distortion. Use a stringer bead with low voltage and a drag technique. Allow welds to cool in still air.
