12" American Pattern Square Bastard File

Files are made from high-quality chromium alloy steel with a cutting surface hardened to 65Rc. They have a unique ductile core which reduces file breakage and a lacquer coating to prevent rust. Files come in a variety of shapes and patterns to meet every need. All files, except needle files, are measured exclusive of the tang (from the base of the tang to the tip).
The Square Bastard file is excellent for filing keyways and slots and can be used on plain surfaces. The file has four double-cut surfaces.
For safety reasons and to prevent possible OSHA violations, a tanged file should never be used without a tight-fitting handle. A handle will not only help prevent accidents, it helps make the job easier and more enjoyable.
